The con- soles attach directly to the vehicle's mounting points for a no-drilled solution. The console box itself is typically shaped with two distinct sections: a horizontal and a vertical section. The horizontal section is designed to be low profile for side egress and houses accessories (cupholder, armrest, cigarette plugs, pockets and more) or control head style devices. The vertical section is designed to angle towards the dash and is deeper to accommodate full sized radios. Gamber-Johnson de- signs their consoles boxes to get as close to the dash as possible, so the need to relocate the factory USB/ audio ports is sometimes required. There are two ways to relocate the factory USB/audio ports. Place re- quired knock-outs on the passenger side of the console or order a face- plate accessory to fit ports inside the console box itself. On the top of the console box, mounting patterns allow the computer or tablet to be center mounted out of the airbag zone and out of the passenger leg space. Depending on the vehicle-specific console you will find two different mounting holes: 1.) 3-bolt hole pat- tern used when mounting Gamber- Johnson's Mongoose or 6" Locking Slide arm or 2.) "Smiley Faced" hole pattern for aiding in the rotation of the computer. Both the top and the center brace of the console are removable for easy access to wire routing and radio installation/repair. Gamber-Johnson's vehicle- specific consoles ship fully as- sembled (except for armrests and accessories), which allows installers to open the box and immediately start installing the console. The console box is also designed using fully welded construction that helps to increase the product life span. Gamber-Johnson's faceplates are designed for ease of installa- tion. Dual Lock is used, instead of screws, to secure the device to the console and is snapped together during installation to create a strong, firm connection that elimi- nates the rattle of metal on metal. After the devices are securely at- tached to the console, a trim piece is used to smooth out the edges and provide a clamping force on the Dual Lock. The two screws on each trim piece are screwed in from the side of the console making it less likely for officers to tear their uni- forms than systems that use screws on the top. Dual Lock can also be reused as equipment is replaced or repaired. Visit www.tessco.com/go/ gamberjohnson.
